    About the calculator

The calculator is made for practice, and it is free. You cannot use it in exams.

Your history is only stored in your browser, so I cannot see what you calculate. Tap a calculation to bring it back. The Clear history button at the top clears the history.

    How the calculator works

The shift key gives what is in the blue corner of the key. Shift and then 7 gives π. It applies to one press, and shift again undoes it.

Powers. The exponent applies to the next number or bracket: = 9, but = 16. Shift and then x² gives xy.

Minus. A minus in front of a power is worked out after the power: = −9, but = 9.

Arrow on ) means that ) takes you out of the exponent, the root or the denominator.

Roots. The bar shows what is under the root: = 19, but = 5.

nth root (shift and √). The root first, then the index, then ): = 2.

Fractions (shift and ÷). The number in front becomes the numerator: . If the numerator is longer, put it in brackets: = 2.

    Factorial (shift and ×). = 120, that is 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1.

Ans is the previous answer. After 3 × 4 = 12, Ans + 1 gives 13. If you press + straight after an answer, Ans appears by itself.

    ≈ rounds. After 1 ÷ 3, ≈ gives 0.3333, then 0.333, 0.33, 0.3 and 0. One more press and you are back.

Form (shift and =) shows the answer another way: 0.375 becomes (standard form, also called scientific notation), and then .

Fixing mistakes. Tap in the calculation and the cursor moves there. If it says 2 + 5 and you meant 2 + 15, tap in front of 5 and then 1. ⌫ deletes to the left of the cursor.

Keyboard. p power, r root, b fraction, n nth root, ! factorial, e ×10x, f Form, a Ans, s all the digits of the answer. Enter works it out, Esc clears, the arrow keys move the cursor. Use . for decimals.
